No fears. They are still opening. But due to inclement weather, the "grand opening celebration" planned for Wed evening has been postponed.
From their website: "Though celebrity appearances and special events associated with the Evening for Conservation and ribbon-cutting ceremony are postponed, the Cary store tentatively plans to open Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 6:00 p.m. Tentative plans are to open the store at 8 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 and at 9 a.m. (normal opening hours) Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15. On Sunday, Feb. 16 the store will open at 10 a.m."
Keep an eye on the weather though - supposed to be a bit cold and icy...
Why are 22 longs in such high demand? Target shooting?
.22 is popular for target shooting and plinking because it is cheap, light recoiling, and quiet. .22 lr sells for between 5 and 7 cents a round, as opposed to close to a dollar/round for my deer rifle. There has been a run on ammunition ever since Aurora and Sandy Hook. People are paranoid about not being able to get any. Some folks go and buy it up wherever they can, and resell it on the internet. One gun shop owner i talked to said he was sitting on a trailer full of it, but was waiting because he thought it would get scarcer and more valuable. I hope he loses his a**. This causes people to stand outside of Gander MTN on Friday mornings before it opens to get some. I was able to avoid that madness for a long time because I had gotten a couple bricks as gifts a couple of years ago, but finally about shot them up.
BPS in Cary did have .22 for sale, you had to get it from the clerk behind the counter.

Should have known greed had something to do with it Thanks
For anyone who stopped by over the weekend, I'm curious what you thought. We drove by but it was a *madhouse.* I've never seen anything like it at that shopping center - every parking space in site, including those at the fast food restaurants, was full with people lined up in each row circling for a space - so we kept on truckin.' ;-)
