Hi
I'm relocating to raleigh and was just wanted to hear some feedback on whether their would be a need for a smoothie/Juice Bar/Kiosk in the area and if it could be successful.
There are lots around. There have been a lot go under. I'd imagine it is a hard business to make it in around here. Location is probably key, but then that usually increases the rents accordingly.
I would think that would be a tough business if you were selling only smoothies. I know my budget doesn't allow for drinks that are $5.00 or more on a regualr basis. Sometimes I get one as a treat at the mall or whatever. But I'm not a regualr smoothie customer.
There was a thread here a couple of months ago discussing what type of businesses residents would like to see in Raleigh. Many people responded that a Jamba Juice would be welcome. Coming from CA just a couple of months ago, I miss being able to stop at a Jamba Juice for a healthy afternoon pick-me-up. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who feel the same way. I think that location is the key, though. You'd probably want to be in a busy strip mall that may be near a high school. Maybe a shopping center that has a Whole Foods/Fresh Market type of anchor store that attracts health-conscious consumers....Just a thought. Good luck!
I miss Jamba Juice! The smoothie stores around here, frankly, leave a LOT to be desired (for example, using only 3 strawberries in a "strawberry" smoothie...sheesh!). I have resorted to making my own -- I buy yogurt, juice, and frozen fruit (whatever is cheapest in the store). It ends-up costing about the same as buying from Jamba Juice. I think a smoothie place that offers convenience and value (like Jamba) and a breadth of good products would do great here...especially with all the relos like me who miss the aforementioned Jamba Juice.
