I have 3 older cats we just got a little one a few months ago and I was looking to find some playmates for her to grow up with. They do better with company. Doubt I would sign up a couple of years ago and post a pic of my oldest to get over like that. I can assure you I am not an evil person.

I think you should go back and read my previous post. Don't know why you would be offended.

Or, they could just breed them.

That said...

Let's stay on topic. The OP has indicated an interest in adopting some pets, not starting up a vivisection laboratory.

There are lots of ads on Craigslist for the cats in need of new home. People moving, etc. We have to find a new home for our cat too - our kid got allergy. Breaks my heart.

I have been allergic to cats my whole life....where I would sneeze, weeze, excruciating itchy watery eyes etc. However when I found some kittens last year I had no choice but to bring them in our home and although it's taken some time I have built up an immunity to them now (if I go and pet other cats though for some reason they still bother me). Is there any way that you could try some different things so you don't have to rehome your cat?

Some things that helped with me...

Never allow the cat to sleep in the same room as your son in fact keep that as a no cat zone.
Not sure how old your son is but always make sure his hands and face are washed after interacting with the cat.
Have him reduce his exposure to the cat for awhile and then gradually increase it.
Dust and vacuum a lot!
Maybe get allergy shots (but you may not have to...I didn't)
I also limited my use of allergy meds. I only took them a couple times when I slept in a guest room with them after surgery. Other than that I didn't. If I felt like I was starting to have a reaction after spending time with them I just distanced myself from them for a bit. It's been a year now and although I occasionally get some symptoms I am doing GREAT!

I sure hope something can work for your son so you don't have to find a home for you cat :-)
