I have a friend who is moving to Durham for a job in a couple of weeks and I'm looking for advice on several apartments/neighborhoods. My experience with Durham is pretty limited (Duke area, Southpoint), so I thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone has any insight or advice.

Here are the places she's looking at so far:

1. The Lodge at Southpoint
1300 Knoll Circle
Durham, NC 27713

2. Colonial at Research Park
400 Stone Lion Drive
Durham, NC 27703

3. Pinnacle Ridge
3611 University Drive
Durham NC 27707

4. Colonial Village at Woodlake
1000 Lydia's Way
Durham, NC 27713

Other recommendations for places are welcome! She has a dog, so would like something near walking trails or a dog park. Thanks in advance!!

Default Durham Apartments

You are very kind to help your friend with her apartment search.

Here is what I know:
  • The Lodge at Southpoint - fairly new, nice-looking buildings, right along the road into the mall (Pro or con? Depends on your point of view.), nearby access to American Tobacco Trail
  • Colonial at Research Park - less developed area, fewer stores and restaurants nearby, not sure about good places to walk a dog
  • Pinnacle Ridge - older development that looks like it's been renovated, close to restaurants and shopping, streets are a little busy for walking
  • Colonial Village at Woodlake - right down the street from dog park, many walking trails nearby, close to stores and restaurants
She may also want to try:
  • Audubon Lake
  • Woodstone at Croasdaile Farm

Where is Durham is her job? That might be a deciding factor...
