Default Greenway trails

Can someone explain where the parking/entrance to the greenway trails near Durant rd/Falls River is? I looked at the map & drove around up there a bit but I never saw the trail! thanks!

It's been a while since I've been up there, but as I recall there is no parking area, you'll have to park on the street. One entrance is past the pool, just beyond one of the small bridges as you're driving into the subdivision from Durant - it will be on the right. The greenway also runs on the opposite side of the street but I think it's access is on the other end of the small bridge. There is also a greenway that runs behind Durant Trails and Windsor Forest Subdivisions. You can park at Durant Middle School in the back near the baseball field and follow the path to the greenway. It is bounded by Durant Nature Park and is pretty nice.

mfrank is on the money. You can park at the pool this time of year with no problem, and the greenway actually passes through the woods right behind there. However, if you don't live in the neighborhood and are driving to the greenway for your walk, I'd strongly recommend the Durant Trails greenway mentioned by mfrank. You can park at Durant Middle School and follow the trail along a creek and through some great hardwoods to Durant Nature Park. DNP also has a lot of nice hiking trails, too. Of course, you could also drive to DNP and walk the other way on the greenway.

The Falls River Greenway is nice, but will be much-improved in the near future once the greenway is continued on along Cokesbury/River Bank and then past Bedford to near the Falls Dam/Tailrace area. Right now the path is just over a mile and parallels the landfill, which will be closed in early-2008!
