I am trying to find something to do with my 3 and 4 year old between 1 and 3 pm MWF. Now that we have a big time Kindergartener who releases from school after 3 pm, I am in a pickle as what to do with the smaller kids when they release at 12:30. We live to far to drive home and drive back, so the only real option is to find an activity to kill the time. I only found the little gym as a possible solution, but wonder what else might be available. I am checked Raleigh Parks and Recs, but they don't offer anything during that time frame. I am hoping there are some other moms and dads who have been in this situation and have some suggestions. I am looking for programs in Raleigh.

I am in Johnston County, but I would imagine that the Wake County Public Library has story times specifically for the younger set during the day just as they do here. They may not be at the times you need, however. I would check the libraries that are closest to your Kindergartner's location and see if they have anything that fits your needs. Other similar locations such as bookstores may be a good bet to check for programs. Good luck!

Pack a lunch (I'm sure feeding children that age would kill some time) and then hit either the park, library, or little gym for the rest of the time. If you vary locations, it probably wouldn't get old as fast.

Not sure if this is out of the way for you, but the Cary Arts Center has lots of preK art classes and I believe some are offered during this time. You can view the brochure via the Town of Cary website...under Departments....park, rec., and cultural resources.

Great ideals Also checkin to other moms as in Meetup you can join a mom play group help past the time, I know over here in Cary you can visit lot of the small play parks and I saw at the Mall this weekend they are going to put a play area in ! We us to love the one at south point few years back.

Agree with prior posts about packing a lunch and taking it to where you are going. For good weather I would suggest the parks, there are so many great ones (Pullen, Millbrook, etc). If you are in Raleigh you can get into the city parks at a great price and they have the sprinkler parks and pools. For rainy days you can take your lunch to the mall, Marbles or Barnes and Noble. In Cary, storytime at the library is either in the morning or at about 7pm but you could go and pick out books and sit a read a couple to pass the time.
