Autumngal, Thanks for the pictures. I usually drive to the aquatic center myself, but dh took the day off and drove me this morning. I was just like a kid in the candy store looking at all the different colors from here to there. One of those perfect times!
Tip for newcomers: It is now time to take your children to the North Carolina Zoo at Asheboro. It is a long story about a volcanic island flying through the air, but that area is hilly, not to the degree, but similar to the mountains. The North Carolina Zoo is a place where the animals are happy and you get to see them if they want you to see them. You can go tromping on Safari or ride the tram. Happy week end.
Darn, I can't wait to retire or hit the lotto!!! Thanks autumngal.
Are ya coming to NC then me dear friend?

When I was little we lived outside of Boston and during the fall we would get in the car and drive around just looking at the fall colors. Even on the street we lived on, and there were not tons of trees, there was fall color. I can still remember going out with a grocery bag picking up the prettiest leaves in our neighborhood and bringing them home, only to be so sad when a week later all I had was a big bag of brown leaves . We did the thing when you place the leaves between two pieces of wax paper and iron them together to preserve the color a little longer, but still, give it a month and we were back to brown. I can't wait to be back east where autumn means enjoying the cool air, driving around to look at the beautiful colors, and drinking hot cocoa while watching football games.
Thanks again for all that color.
Char
