I am driving myself CRAZY trying to select a new french door refrigerator with ice on the door. I've been reading the reviews, comparing features, prices and problems. Many are saying the NOISE level is crazy, even on the top rated ones. Then there's maybe ice maker problems.

This is no longer a quick buy, low cost purchase. These things are running upwards to $2.5K easy, so I don't want to make a mistake.

Has anyone had any good experiences with their new refrigerator and/ or where they purchased it?
Thanks for any help!

We just bought this one a month ago and so far it has been great:

Kenmore Elite French door refrigerator 24.5 cu. ft. 72049 - Sears

We got this fridge on sale for around $2,500. It is very quiet and has a good amount of features. We bought "counter-depth" (which actually isn't but is pretty close) because we wanted the extra room in the kitchen but non-counter depth should be cheaper.

I have a 29cu ft Whirlpool Gold french door fridge with in door icemaker. It does make more noise than my old side by side but the pluses far outweigh the minuses. The layout and lighting alone are worth it. I've had no problems with ice: two kids and two adults in the house. Most fridges have quick ice options. If you're concerned about the quantity made you can revert to a couple of ice cube trays to supplement what's made. Some fridges have an extra ice maker in the freezer but they take away from space.

I'm easily bothered by noises but have been able to tolerate the noise my fridge makes. I get some condensation around the ice maker seal but have read that a bit of petroleum jelly on the rubber gasket will take care of that. I'll try it soon. I bought mine at HH Gregg. They run some great sales and have a best price guarantee. I think I paid around $2200 delivered. Model WRF989SDAM

I've stuck with Whirlpool appliances after having prior bad luck with brands that had weaker reliability history and have not been let down so far. Icemakers in general tend to be the part that goes first, but I've been told that doing only cubes and not crushed ice helps prevent a lot of problems, so that's what I've been doing with my 1.5 yr old Whirlpool sidebyside.

Wish the filters were cheaper is my only complaint. I go through about 3 per year.

We've had two French door refrigerators, freezer on the bottom, ice cube maker in the freezer rather than than the door.

Noise wasn't a concern. But I didn't want to give up door space to the ice maker/dispenser. It is easy enough to open the freezer and scoop out the ice. You don't have to stand there while it grinds away. Ice cubes don't come flying out on the floor either.

We use a Crystal Springs water dispenser, so we have chilled water whenever we like.

We like our Samsung 29cuft model purchased about 4 years ago. Yes, when the bucket is empty and it makes ice and the ice drops into the bucket it can be loud, but it's not like it's constant or frequent.

I just put the filler in mine and drink chilled tap water through the fridge that is just not filtered. Works for me and don't have to buy the filters.

We've bought a number of appliances and a large flat screen TV that they installs. Garner TV and Appliance - good people, good products, good prices, good service. Would go back in a heartbeat.
