Default New construction in Raleigh at Creedmoor & Millbrook

Trees are going down there. It looks like another strip mall, maybe some housing. Does anyone know anything about what will be going up there?

I didn't know there was an apartment complex over there. I guess it would be the SE corner. It's really obvious with all the trees down. It's across the street from the Walgreens. There was a sign there for maybe 6 months, but it was hard to read and it fell down at least once.

I haven't heard, but although I'd rather see neither, I'd rather have residential there than ANOTHER strip center. The one that's there has really gone downhill since I used to live near there (one of the filthiest Food Lions in town IMHO, and it was once my "regular" grocery store), so I don't know why they think another bit of retail would succeed.

Oh boy, even MORE traffic at that busy intersection!

I'm thinking the developers won't stop until all four corners of any given busy intersection each have a drug store.

I remember reading somewhere that a Publix was going there, but a quick google today hasn't turned up anything definitive. A good rumor though, right?

***EDIT...it will be a Harris Teeter*** http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/...with-five.html

Ok so I did a little sleuthing. Back in 2009 a group called York Development Group tried to rezone the land.

2009 article "The Raleigh City Council in July rezoned the 7-acre wooded lot at the southeast corner of the intersection to allow new uses at the site, including a pharmacy and three two-story office buildings with ground-floor retail. In all, the project is expected to add 75,000 square feet of space in the Creedmoor/Millbrook corridor."

http://www.bizjournals.com/triangle/...24/story8.html

Of course Walgreens ended up choosing a location across the street from this plot. They did name the development "The Pointe at Creedmoor".

Could this be it? The boxes checked off the preliminary site plan have it slated as a retail/shopping center

Looks like it is based on the outline of the building and a photo of a Publix. Site map shows a 50K sq.ft. building with a cart corral.

So what's so great about Publix? I don't think a Harris Teeter would really add much to that location. There's another HT on Falls of Neuse not too far away. At least it's better than Food Lion.
