I took a brief walk through the Historic Oakwood neighborhood in Downtown Raleigh Yesterday and came across a few stores tucked away on the Corner or Bloodworth Street. One of these businesses was a place called "Side Streets". It looked like a restaurant housed in an old white building. Has anybody ever eaten there? Just curious what it is like and what the story is behind this quaint looking place.

I highly recommend a walk through Oakwood in the fall to take in the Fall Colors! Here are two fall foliage shots from yesterday!:

When I worked downtown, Side Street used to be a regular place for lunch out. Plus they often did catering for the office. They have great sandwiches and salads. The only problem is that I HATE their straight backed chairs.....used to be my big complaint for the old Sunflowers location too. But I love their food. Side STreet has been there forever.

Default Sidestreet is open...

for lunch during the week and most evenings unless Mary Lou has a major catering event. It is closed Sundays. It will be open during the Candlelight Tour on December 8th and 9th. Please see http://www.historicoakwood.org/
for info on the tour. It is a lot of fun and you can see some of the great decorations and houses. The Tucker house and usually the Oakwood Inn have refreshments. The proceeds are used to maintain our little neighborhood parks and such. I live in Oakwood, in fact, across the street from Sidestreet. I love living there and most of us go out big for holidays and events. I had 633 trick or treaters at my house!
