I've heard mainly good things about all Clayton elem. schools (e. Clayton, w. Clayton, river wood. River dell, Powhatan, Cleveland, west view, polenta ) ...however mixed reviews about all middle schools ... But I think that is just more so the nature of middle schools in general ( tough age) rather than the middle schools themselves. Cleveland high school seems to be highly rated compared to the other high schools in johnston county.

A simple 3 br rancher(1300ish sq. ft) can easily be found in all parts Clayton for $150k. That should not be a problem at all as long as you r not looking for all the bells and whistles of newer/ larger homes.

Good luck ! We live in the Cleveland area and r thrilled.( we also live in a newer, non hoa develop....so they d o exist)

Hillsborough could be a good choice. Very chicken-friendly and good schools!

Yep-my neighbor commutes to Duke and it's at least 45 minutes each way, she said. Blah

That is why I suggested it. No way in hell I'd commute to Durham from Clayton on purpose.

hey thanks so much for the tips on hillsborough. i checked into that area, and it really looks beautiful. it's all going to depend on where my husband ends up being relocated.

It's good to get a grasp on the different areas, based on what we want in a 'lifestyle' vs all the other factors, (commute, locations, schools, etc.)

We are getting ready to put our home on the market here. It's a strange time to be selling for sure....thank you so much for all the info and great tips!
