That is not necessarily correct. I have seen in in houses with a crawlspace (North Ridge is a good example) but you are much less likely to have the problem.

Interesting. Measured in the crawl space or the house? I try to minimize my time down there, although it is our emergency shelter.

Radon is measured on the lowest "habitable" level-not in the crawlspace itself.

Radon has been pretty well addressed, and I agree with Vicki on the mold. It really does not matter what type it is, find the cause, make the necessary changes, and remove the mold. Typically mold is present in crawlspaces, much less likely in other areas unless there was water leakage. See the thread about encapsulated crawlspaces for information on dealing the moisture sources.
