The Franklin County animal shelter has agreed to take him after doing a behavior assessment. They cannot guarantee he won't be put down though, about a 50/50 chance.

Poor guy. I hope someone adopts him.

I'm sorry you're going through all this, Strongasbear. You did a great thing coming here and posting about the cat.

Hang in there.

You can always try this group" Friends of Wake County Animal Center". They will let you post the cat for re-homing on their wall

Default Resolved - thank you!

After several hours driving around over 2 counties and a lot of frustrating tears, the cat is finally in the Wake County shelter. We drove all the way to Franklin County in Louisburg, filled out the info, and handed the cat over, only to be told they could not take him because we live in Wake County. Sooo...off to Wake County, where they said they would do everything they could to home him but could not guarantee he would not be put down. At that point, I had no choice but to take the chances.

Thanks everyone for the information and a special thank you to those who said kind things.

That's really sad but unfortunately necessary.

I'm guessing the baby was pro-boob but anti-cat.

Thanks JK for coming to my defense, but it doesn't bother me. Some people were just born to antagonize...I shrug them off.
