I used to live out on Olive Chapel not far from Bella Casa, and it is VERY dark at night. Hadn't really thought about it until now, but that's definitely a bonus to my moving to SW Cary - plenty of street lights. I could do without the one on my culdesac that shines through the window in my 2 story foyer though!

Yeah. One of our requirements was not to have a street light shining into our window. We looked at quite a few houses that did. Luckily, none of the floor plans clicked.

You all are making it seem like Bella Casa is way out there. It's 5 minutes from Beaver Creek, 20 minutes to most anywhere in RTP (if using 540), 20 minutes to downtown Raleigh (with no traffic). it's not far from Abbington at all! There is going to be a lot more development around Bell Casa in the coming years as the neighborhood expands and areas around here continue to expand on Humie Olive Rd. and Old US-1 near the intersection of NC-540. The new high school is currently under construction and is less than 1 mile away (more towards the "boonies") and there will be a new middle and elementary built on that site as well. Currently there are hundreds more homes coming to Bella Casa in the next couple of years. I guarantee you they sell fast!
I lived in North Raleigh and was just as far from downtown Raleigh as I am in West Apex. Now, if you have night vision problems then yes, the last mile or so from Olive Chapel Rd. will be a little dark until you get into the neighborhood, but I don't see how that would not make me want to live there. If anything I love to live where we have a little less light polution, even if that won't be the case in the next 5, 10, 15+ years.

Well, if you had bad night vision Abbington would be a better choice since 64 is well lighted. I don't think anyone said that they were all that far apart - both are in the same general area. When I lived on Olive Chapel I didn't want a commute to downtown Raleigh, but that's just me. I'm sure many people would think it just fine.
Hubby's brother and sister are in Raleigh area and we were there last fall twice for his niece and nephew weddings. We loved Cary and even looked into it if we would want to relocate after hubby retires. Cary is bigger and really nice for a young family hubby worked in TRI for a long time and remebers when Cary was just a little town and not as built up.

I didn't say it was in the boonies. It's just not my preference. I don't want to pay tolls to get to RTP when there are great neighborhoods around here with no toll roads required for easy commuting.
Bella Casa started building before the housing crash. It's still not done. Lots of places started before the crash and they ARE done. Ergo, it is not as desirable a neighborhood as others in Cary/Apex.
Doesn't mean it is not a good neighborhood.

Bella Casa runs the gamut from some lower end stuff to some pretty fine homes, and everything in between. It offers low new home price points that Abbington doesn't.

Choices, choices.
True enough. If I wanted inexpensive tract, I'd just buy in West Cary.

Sorry, but this is an ignorant statement that is based on fallacy. It's not finished, because they keep on buying more land (since there is a lot of it out here) and building more houses since everything has sold so fast. Yes the original section was done in 2006-07, but construction didn't really begin again until 2010 (across from Apex BBQ Rd.). Everything has sold quickly in here since 2010 and especially in the last year or two. A resale house (only resale to come up in the last 6 months) recently sold for $40-50k more than the same home brand new (since there were no more brand new homes to buy). There is no way homes here aren't selling as fast or faster than anywhere else in Western Wake.
We originally wanted to live in West Cary when we started looking last year, but looking at comparable properties there the lots and the layouts were not as good as what we found here. I'm actually closer to my job in Downtown Raleigh here, then I would have been in West Cary.
