I have two oil on canvas paintings from Hawaiian artist. They are very big and heavy. Although, I've enjoyed them, they don't serve my lifestyle anymore. They are in mint condition and were very expensive. I can't seem to find anywhere in the Triangle that can sell them on consignment. Anyone have any experience in selling fine art? Thanks in advance.

You could try Kincaids in the Brightleaf Square in Durham, they sell antiques and art and it has to come from somewhere....
Leland Auction in Hillsboro has a fine art department and they sell lots of art works, so you might call them for an assessment. I'm sure they would sell it for you if you're interested.

Thanks Busy Desk. I'll definitely check into Leland Auction. Found another possible auction site last night too. Thanks again.

I think that Cindy Smith's is the name of another place in Hillsboro- they seem to work with smaller lots than Leland so if he won't do it ( due to lot size) you could ask her.
There is also a an online fine art auction; I don't know anything about it other than it exists, but you could look into that, too.
I just remembered a place on 15-501 between Durham and CH...it has more upscale items and may be willing to work with you. I was only there once, and I've forgotten the name, but its in the same building as the wine shop and café that fronts the service road in front of the Walmart/Best Buy/Barnes and Noble shopping Center. The cross street is Mt. Moriah, and its just barely south of that.

UnderPSI- Just because a consignment shop isn't interested doesn't necessarily mean that no one wants an item. Those places usually have some price range that they choose to deal with and if an item is too expensive or too "thrifty" then it will be rejected. If its something big or unusual it may be rejected just because the market for that is considered too small to provide a reasonable turnover time.
