Anybody know what is being built on the newly cleared lot on Creedmoor Road just south of the Millbrook Road intersection? I drove by today and notice they have dug a MASSIVE hole in the ground. It looked like a geologic excavation!

Did some quick digging and this link suggests Grocery Store of some kind to me given the size shape and description of retail. http://www.raleighnc.gov/content/Pla.../SP-007-13.pdf

Edited to Add: I typed the City Case number into google and found this thread here from a while back. New construction in Raleigh at Creedmoor & Millbrook

Default I wouldn't ask about the deep hole if I were you. . . .

Were there black helicopters circling overhead? Wait, there's the door. Gotta go answer it. . . be right back. . .

HT was supposed to be the grocery there. Perhaps they still will be, but now Kroger is acquiring HT. There is speculation that HT+Kroger will have too many stores on Creedmoor Rd if the new one opens. There has been no announcement by Publix or anyone else.

Suspect the hole is for stormwater runoff control.
