Rex blood services ROCK! I normally go to their Donor Center on Blue Ridge Road but have gone to the mobile unit several times as well.

The staff is fantastic, so appreciative, and just all around a great bunch of people. Who'd have thought giving blood, to help save lives, could be such an all around fulfilling experience.

Love me some REX!

This is my sore spot right now. I normally give blood every 55 days but I went on a cruise in March so now they won't take my blood for a year. I guess they are concerned about malaria or something but it seems like they could still test for it? I am O- so universal donor. If I go on another cruise next spring break, that will be another year gone and another 6 pints not given.

Well I am O+ but haven't given blood for a long time because of the ridiculous FDA bias against healthy gay men. I haven't done anything remotely risky in about 20 years but still the government decides that I am a danger to the blood supply because I will give everyone AIDS. How would you like a lifetime ban instead of 55 days?

That is absolutely ridiculous. No wonder they are always so short on blood!

It's really insensitive when you consider how many vampires had to go without on Halloween.
