I really hope you didn't tell them that. But thanks for the suggestion.

Why not? That is the official position of the Taiwanese government.

The mainland Chinese government insists that Taiwan is a province of China, just like Tibet. How would you feel if England still insisted that the USA was a territory of the UK?

Yes but the government of Taiwan also insists that it is the rightful government of mainland China. They both agree that Taiwan and the mainland should share one government, but they disagree who it should be.

So it would be as if the UK maintained a claim over the USA, and the USA maintained a claim over the UK.

Back on topic. I'm disappointed I don't see two of my favorites on the menu: stinky tofu and beef with bitter melon. But I do plan to try it soon.

Bitter Melon is available at the "cafeteria" at Grand Asia
Stinky Tofu at Tapei 101 (Formosa style, not Chinese)

I'm sure they are both available elsewhere, but I know this to be true (at one time) of these two...

Thanks. I don't see stinky tofu on either menu. Is it "off menu" or maybe called "House Tofu"? Thanks for the tip about Grand Asia. I go there about once every month.

Are you looking at the gourmet kingdom menu online? It's often on their Chinese-language specials board.

Zao1 gao1! I only took a year and a half of Chinese and I can't read their menu! I'll never get their stinky tofu!
