I need three 2-surface fillings replaced. These are just standard composite fillings, nothing special. My dentist wants $290 each which seems steep to me. I have insurance, but it doesn't cover much so I'm basically paying cash for these fillings.

Can anyone share what they paid recently for just a basic 2-surface filling? I'm just trying to get a feel for whether $290 is a fair price or not. Thanks!

I just paid $204 to have a 2 surface amalgam (silver) filling replaced. I don't know how much more composite is, however.

I just went to the dentist earlier this month and have my bill in front of me. I had two cavities that needed filling. This is what my bill says:

Resin composite 2s posterior $195
Resin composite 1s posterior $170

My dentist is in Burlington near my husband's job.

My daughter went to a dentist here in Chapel Hill and I do believe her cavities were going to be in the $200 range but I don't recall the exact price because we haven't gone back since he's yet to file insurance from her checkup/cleaning. (Hence the reason I traveled to Burlington to my husband's dentist.)
