There are lots of good ones, but I am looking for authentic. I went to Italy and had the pleasure of eating food that I never see in Italians places here. For example mozzarella di bufala antipasto, spaghetti carbonara (which is now my favorite pasta), and pizza cooked in an oven with an actual fire in the oven. Looked and tasted nothing like American pizza, but was so good! Anywhere around here to get this realistic food? Especially the pizza.

If any of you go to Italy try and make it to Anacapri, its one of the most beautiful places. The chair lift is well worth the ride!

Okay maybe not "authentic" but Carrabbas is my favorite Italian restaurant. They have a great grill and pasta and pizza. Calamari isnt tough, its awesome and moist. Great Marsala and made to order Alfredo. My favorite Chicken Bryan . Grilled breast with goat chz medallion, sundried tomato, fresh basil and lemon butter sauce. This is not Olive Garden , I promise.

Capri in Sutton Square might be a place you'd like. The food is very good. Dino's Capri Restaurant

A new favorite of ours is Serena's, which is closer to what I had in Italy than anything else available here.

Pretty sure even Olive Garden has spaghetti carbonara on the menu.

If you want coal-fired pizza, Bella Mia in Cary is good. Trophy Brewing in downtown Raleigh also does a great fired pizza.

I'd also suggest Capri in Sutton Square. Dino knows how to prepare Italian food.

As an alternative you could attend a cooking class at Capri Flavors in Morrisville as the students get to eat what they prepare. Capri Flavors imports foods from Italy and Titina is pretty authentic Italian.
See menus/more info here:

Cooking Classes - Titina's : Capri Flavors, :: Fine Italian Food

In my experience, the quality (taste) of the ingredients in Italy far exceeds what is typically available in the US. The flavors just seem to pop much more. So besides cooking skill, access to good ingredients is key.

Casa Carbone on Glenwood Ave is the best in Raleigh. A family business for years. Otherwise take a flight to Italy.

We lived in the triangle for years and never found "the" place. When we moved to the sandhills, we did!

Try Valenti's in Vass. You will keep coming back!
