I saw a snake in an apt I will move in
The snake wasn't big, but it was alive.
And it was very scary to see a snake inside my new place.
We have a 3-yr-old daughter, and don't feel comfortable to move into the apt anymore.
We didn't sign the lease, but have paid for application fee and sec. deposit.
Can we get all back?
Any advice?
BTW, how could a snake get into an apt?
The apt is pretty new, and at least, looks really nice.
Thank you!

There are snakes all over the place. Chances are it was just looking for some where warm. If it's a nice place, why freak over a small snake? It could happen just about anywhere and might never happen again in that location.

I was not kidding. I am from Wisconsin and we are not accustomed to seeing snakes in our house/ apartment.

It's rare to see them inside a home even in NC...but yes, NC has snakes. So does Wisconsin (though I am sure they are all in hibernation right now.)

Possibly further up North in the wooded areas. Not in Milwaukee, WI or other cities here.
Is it common to see them outside? I'm trying to get a lot of the facts before I consider moving to North Carolina.

Yes, you do seem them outside. They aren't around every corner, but yes, there are snakes around. Lots of trees and wooded areas. Lots of larger parks in the city limits as well.
There are several threads on the forum about snakes. Basically, yes, you will see some at times but no, it's not a big deal.
