I went to Target in Beaver Creek at 12:15 - it just started flurrying as I left my subdivision. Went the 5 miles to Target and it was snowing when I got there. Got in and got out, got on the road (NC55) at 12:45 and it was already a complete mess. Was going to make one more stop and said "forget it" - saw two cars stuck outside the subdivision across from me.

The roads are starting to get gridlocked. Stay where you are unless you want to be trapped on the roads.

My wife left work an hour ago and just called to say that she's only made it 4 miles so far. Nobody is moving.

I work on Kit Creek and live about 5 miles away. Davis Drive was already in very bad shape. Took me 45 minutes to get home.

I'm working from home today, but with the accumulation getting into the fun range I'm about to set my Jabber notification to "in a meeting" and will head outside to play with the kids!

People should have already been home. There really as no excuse to get trapped this time. Someone on TheWeatherChannel was just saying this exact thing. People should have known better than to roll the dice today. They were warned.

Not all jobs say ok, there is a bad storm predicted you can stay home. Some told employees they can leave at 1, those are the people who are stuck on the road now.

Yep. My husband has a very, very pregnant wife at home, and did not have the option to not go to work. So now he is there until the roads are passable tomorrow. So it's just me, the cat, and the baby who better not make an appearance today or tomorrow!

I left the office at 12:30 to drop off a check. Nothing was happening. 15 minutes later, it started coming down hard. Took me an hour to get 5 miles. Snow fell so hard that it was difficult to see lanes and yes, those with big 4 wheel cars were trying to pass others! Duh!

I saw cars sliding as they tried to go up hills that aren't that steep.

Glad to be home! Y'all stay safe!

Vicki

Well the Triangle traffic map is pretty red right now and the radar looks like we're just a few minutes away from getting our heaviest band of snow before it switches over to ice. Stay safe out there!
