It was 33* here at the house this AM, and it has been dripping off the roof since that time. The trees all have a glaze of ice on them though....but not enough to have them drooping badly. I think we missed the bullet on ice/freezing rain. The sleet that fell on top of the snow isn't bad here.
*Of course, it's sleeting out there again now, but not much.
Saw her on WRAL. What an unwise thing to do. Seems she needed help (a ride) for the last mile as she was cold and exhausted. Sound like she didn't even try to deal with the traffic or wait until she could attempt the inclines. I don't understand why she said she is from up north, used to driving in this stuff, yet she chose to walk. What am I not getting?
Ha ha ha...I saw her on the news. She seemed happy about it!
I told hubby that I'd stay in my car and freeze before I'd walk 10 miles!!!

Maybe she had a car that didn't have snow tires or AWD? That won't help in ice but it makes things a lot better in snow. My tires aren't what I'd call "real" snow tires (no studs). I was going to buy regular dry & wet tires but looked at the dry + wet + snow for $15 more. It does snow here occasionally and they were very useful yesterday.
My partner walked 2 miles before he got a ride. He didn't feel safe driving his car. What choice did he have? Stay in his car and freeze? I'm grateful that someone took pity on him and offered him a ride. Now RaleighLass, I will admit I was a little perplexed by his decision but he is normally a smart guy. I think people underestimate the effect of the cold when walking several miles. I am just glad he is safe. It was very frustrating knowing that I couldn't get to him and help him because of the traffic and the distance.
Had some melting this morning also. Shoveled a bit, then it started raining (not freezing). Ten minutes ago big, fluffy flakes started dumping on us. Now it's slacking off to a slow fall. I wouldn't be surprised to see on-again, off-again stuff today.

Fluffy picturesque flakes for the last half hour, now ice pellets.
I'm in central Raleigh.
Now back to snow, but not nearly as pretty. Will probably go on like this all day.
So with a low of 24 tonight, tomorrow the roads should be fun...
