The City of Raleigh and AT&T have reached an agreement that will bring
AT&T’s fiber Internet to Raleigh as part of the North Carolina Next
Generation Network initiative. The agreement was announced Wednesday
morning.
Ha, I thought the exact same thing. They are already telling the feds that they will invest money in upgrading all these places if and only if they let them buy DirecTV. Maybe we are on a list that gets done either way, but all I have ever gotten from ATT was promises and no action.

Also keep in mind, many of us aren't serviced by AT&T. So even if they actually come through, that does some of us absolutely no good.
All of these carriers and providers are bringing us all sorts of high speed Internet; does anyone care to wager when we'll actually see something reach our homes?
I thought that AT&T provided phone service to all of Raleigh. What other LEC's are operating there?
CenturyLink is the local exchange carrier in the part of North Raleigh I live in but I use Time Warner Cable as my ISP because they provide an overall better service.
And if it ever happens, I believe this will be capped...
