Isn't that a little like selling NY-style pizza in N.C.?

I went to one in Indianapolis last year. They have some NC-Style cue there, which was pretty tasty

It can still be very good.....but it's gonna be a fusion style....not 'specific to an area'.
Thanks for the info! Never heard of Ohio bbq before this to be honest.

What?? How did you get elected Mod of this forum then? That seems to be a pretty basic qualification. Perhaps we need to throw open the voting again. Now, where can we find someone gullible, er, I mean wise, enough to lead us? Ahh, hell, never mind - you can keep the job.

Not sure what you mean about the wings place.. it's alive and well, and always has a bunch of cars parked around it. Not that I've ever been in, but I'm at Trader Joe's a couple times a week.

There's some kind of law of nature that says that food businesses that have "locations" are never as good as food businesses that are in one location with mom still at the register and pops still at the grill. There's some rampdown as an enterprise expands through two or three locations, but after that it quickly becomes ungoodable.

Bumping this up again - has anyone tried this place yet?? I'm not a real big meat-eater, but we have some out-of-town guests due shortly & I like the idea that they do pulled chicken in addition to pulled pork and pulled beef. So...I was wondering if any NC'ians have tried it and whether it suffices as NC BBQ or whether I need to stick with a true NC bbq place....

thoughts?

I live in Ohio (born and raised) but lived in Durham for a year and can say that City BBQ doesn't compare to anything in NC. Its not even the best BBQ in Ohio (Old Carolina - oldcarolina.com is much closer to what I experienced in NC - they even have Cheerwine as a fountain drink). I wouldn't get too excited about City BBQ, although they do have a rib night where its $1 a rib which is a pretty good deal. It is better than Dickey's - that's for sure.
