There is something just wrong about calling it Rock and Roll and then starting before noon on a Sunday. Unless they've been up all night partying hard.

Yeah. It should start around midnight.

Congrats to all those that participated. Saddened to read that two people died at the race:
Two die in inaugural Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in Raleigh :: WRAL.com

That is very sad. Of course, there are no specific details here, but I always wonder if people are training properly and getting the green light from their physicians for these types of events. Marathons are very taxing to the body.

Very good point. Marathons have become so "trendy" and a lot of people are jumping on the bandwagon and not necessarily training properly, or getting regular physicals. They assume "well, I'm running, so I'm healthy." But they have no idea if they could have any underlying problems, and could possibly be doing irreparable damage.

It would help if races like this were treated as serious athletic events rather than circus shows organized for profit and backed with all of the gushing hype that the local media can muster up between crime reports.

Finished a few hours ago and so sad to hear the news.
Very heavy heart on an otherwise beautifully done day.
