Default Electric Bill for Energy Star Homes

My husband and I are looking at purchasing an Energy Star home...2 story, 2400 sq ft. We're curious as to what someone who already owns a home similar to this pays for electricity for winter/summer.

Just looking for estimates. We currently live in a very poorly insulated home (1500 sq ft)and this summer our highest bill was $200. Hoping that we'll save some money when we move!

My home is not Energy Star but is pretty efficient...2300 sq ft built in 2000 and our highest bill was $120 during this hot summer. I would think that a comparable Energy Star home would be around $90-100 in a hot summer month...maybe even less.

Electric bill for last 2 months was $85 per month for a 2800sf house. We also have gas heat and I don't know what the gas bill was....wife pays that one.

Hows this for a comparision?

My old house in Raleigh which was about 1100 sq ft had an average of $150 for electric.

My new house, an energy star saver (Anderson-had to give a shout out!) which is about 2800 sq ft has an average of $130 a month for electric.

Its worth it.

Not sure what builder you are going through, but the one thing I really love about my Anderson home is that they use tighter construction so my allergies really have not been that bad this year. I love it.

we are looking at an Anderson Homes community in HS- Bridgewater.

That's great news about the electric bill!!! Looking forward to saving money...of course we'll just be spending it on the rising price of gas

Yeah, I know that!
But I do love my Anderson home. Best thing I ever bought.

Enjoy!
