So I grew up in northern MI where we bought wood by the cord, cut and stacked it as a chore, etc. Now I'm in NC and live in an apt. where I have a woodburning fireplace that I'd love to put into use! I'm not keen on the idea of using Duraflame logs, or something like that -- I'd really like to find an economical source of wood, that I can buy in a smaller supply since I don't have a place to store it. Any suggestions? Paying $3-4 for a small bundle that would last a day isn't appealing - is that my only option?

Thanks!

You can buy it cheaper than that at the Farmer's Market on Lake Wheeler Road, and in a little more reasonable volume.

Yes, at the FArmer's Market, you can buy a cord, a half cord, or a stack. Or possibly less, but a stack may do.

Some of the tree trimming companies also sell firewood, I'll PM you the details of one that I know of.

Default I'd also like to know

We have 5 working fireplaces and a sky high propane bill. It doesn't make sense to use all that propane with all our fireplaces.

I have bought at the farmers market too. I saw on craigslist the other day someone who had free firewood.
