Default Forbes ranks Durham, NC the 20th best place in the United States to educate your child

Nice to see we get a little positive news now and then about the Durham schools!

but how many kids who grow up in Durham actually can get into duke? Not sure grouping top colleges with high schools is a great method for a survey.

The pattern I see is, educate them in the north, send to the south for work and warmth! Interesting........

There's actually a pretty good amount. We were having problems with our cable the other day, and the repair guy has a daughter who went to Riverside and is now at Duke. She scored in the top 50 in the country on her SAT scores.

What was weird is they said Duke is the only college in the area.....huh?

UNC is right down the road......lol

Durham has TONS of options for college...probably near the top of the list.

And don't forget about NCCU or Durham Tech right in Durham. Close by, you've got a ton of other great universities.

Many places in the NE have a lot more colleges around than anywhere in NC.

Maybe...but come on, we have Peace, Meredith, Shaw, St. Augustine, State, UNC, NCCU, Duke, Durham Tech, Wake Tech....and those are just the ones I can name off the top of my head.

How many places have that many (including that many MAJOR ones) in such a small area? Not many, even in 'the north'.
