Dog Groomer in Wake Forest Area - NO PET SMART
Well after living in PA and having gone to a very friendly and personable groomer in our area we took our dogs to Pet Smart down here based on the recommendations online and found it to be the worst experience for our dogs ever.
2 shih tzus that are now almost completely bald after asking for them to be trimmed...they have their skin actually showing on most of the body and they are now supposed to be in Philly next week...they will be freezing.
So after this terrible experience we are looking for a groomer in Wake Forest area.
Thank you for letting me rant

I go to Petco in off Captial by BJs. I've also had him groomed at Paws at Play at Heritage Animal hospital....but I wasn't impressed. Not bad....but just not great. he wasn't left bald though.

I feel your pain, I have a shih-tzu as well...I am used to one person handling Oliver's grooming. I am finding that the turnover rate in PetSmart, Petco is high...I was happy with Petsmart in Brier Creek, I had one person consistently grooming Oliver the past few months...now he is gone... I need to find one reliable person who knows how to groom a shih-tzu properly...my last cutting, I tried a new person at Petsmart Brier Creek...she was okay...any suggestions from posters here would be great...I would prefer a private non-chain person...that's what I was used to on Long Island...here it's like a shot in the dark, each time I drop him off...I dislike that feeling!

It may be a little far
I go to the Petsmart in Apex and I have two very pampered and puffy Pomeranians. Their groomer, Jackie is great and I stood around and watched her without her knowing that I was there. This was after taking them to Petco and having a horrible experience of one of my dogs paws being cut and I was not told about it. Petco was nice enough to pay the vet bill though but I will never return to that Petco again.

Oliver, I totally know what you mean. I have an Irish Setter and have to be very careful who I take her too. I live in Rocky Mount and the groomer I used was at our Pet Smart and she has recently moved to the Pet Smart on Capital Blvd. She is awesome. Her name is Louise and if you tell her what you want she will do exactly as you ask. I didn't even know the proper way to groom an Irish Setter but she researched it and the we collaborated on what I wanted. Definitely give her a try and tell her that Bella the Irish Setter's mom says hi!

I have a Shih Tzu that I usually keep in a full coat. I go to Sunny Acres in Durham. That is probably a little far away, but it is the best I've found in the area.

Check out Breeders Choice in Wake Forest, the groomer has been in business for several years. She is located near S. Main and 98 bypass intersection.

We have used the groomers at Wake Forest animal hospital for the past few years (Right off 98 facing target on Wake Union Church Rd). They are great with the dogs and, in our experience, will cut exactly as you request. Nice folks also. We also have a Shih Tzu (used to have two but lost one of our boys to old age last summer
