Thanks for all of the responses. I'm going print these out and give the list to them.they're official north Carolinians, so they have plenty of time to check them out!!

J-mart. I'm not even sure they have a specific "type" of jazz preference, Son in law plays a lot of different music, so they like a wide array. The only place they probably wouldnt want to go is the one that has smoking.

I'll pass this along to them tomorrow. DD asked me last week and I had no idea since I don't ever get out!

Thanks so much to all.

They're in luck. Smoking is banned in bars and restaurants in NC. (With the exception of cigar bars)

Just heard about a new place opening soon on WRAL website:

We are finding out more about Common 414, a new upscale cocktail bar coming to Fayetteville Street. Out and About got an exclusive sneak peek of the club slated to open next month next to the Sheraton hotel. Owner Zack Medford said the place is much more "The Great Gatsby" – a roaring 20s feel, crystal chandeliers and great drinks – than a low-key speakeasy. When we visited, gold and teal colors adorned the walls and crystal lighting hung from spaces that would soon house VIP booths.
Local artist Adam Peele will be painting a mural on the back wall, creating a perfect backdrop for live jazz bands and DJs who will play everything from classic jazz to electro-swing. Common 414 has teamed up with Raleigh's Crude Bitters and Sodas for local twists on classic cocktail menu items. There will be bitters and drinks that you can only get at Common 414 like the Old Sport, a twist on The Old Fashioned.
In a first for the Triangle area, Common 414 will be admitting women ages 21 and older and men ages 25 and over. Medford said the club is designed to appeal to young professionals and an older crowd as opposed to a college student targeted bar.
