I am willing to bet that "TNGA" stands for ten gallons. Makes perfect sense if they are charging ten times per unit as Cary is charging per gallon.

Can you call the water company and get them to explain what that TNGA actually means?

Makes sense except that 4210 gallons for two people means there is wastage, inadvertent or not (assuming there aren't a whole lot of thirsty plants).

I find it very hard to believe that you're only using 421 gallons in a month.
there's no explanation on the bill of what the 421 units means. I could probably find out by asking the maintenance guys or leasing agent, who lives here too. The total bill was $92. $67 is just for the water and sewer.

ETA: the reply above this one re:TNGA meaning 10 gallons, that would make more sense. But that seems awfully high. We started a log yesterday and will be writing down what the water meter reads every day.

You can call the Town of Cary for an explanation.

The usage may be a bit high, but many people vastly underestimate the amount of water that they use.

The Town of Cary reports that average water consumption is 1,800 gallons per person, per month:

Woah, that's a lot of water per person! I thought we used a lot, four person household, watering plants, bathing dogs (show dog), etc. but we average a little over half that per person.

I think they overestimate. When I set up my water service the guy from Town of Cary estimated that our water bill would be about $125 a month; as I noted earlier in this thread my entire utility bill is averaging $75 a month.

Now once my kids stop acting like taking a shower is akin to be dipped in acid, that figure may rise.

It's an average. Some people use a lot more, and you may use quite a bit less.

My wife and I normally use about 400 cubic feet per month, which comes to around 3,000 gallons total. We don't irrigate or anything like that, so that's just for inside consumption (including a high-efficiency washer and dishwasher) and occasional watering of a couple of flower pots outside.

Our Town of Cary water bill is ridiculous. Two adults and one toddler is between $95-100/month. When we first started renting our townhouse in 2010, it was about $70. Moving to N. Raleigh soon and curious to see if it changes at all. I sure hope so!
