Hello, I am relocating from just outside NYC to North Carolina. Time to for a little restart in life. While I am finding all the areas I am looking at reasonably affordable for housing, I am a little worried about the best place for employment. I am an experienced bookkeeper of 25+ years and recently closed my own bookkeeping business. Does anyone have any input on the areas that seem easier to get a job in? Also, which of these areas have the best fresh water fishing?
Thank you

Forget fishing, you need a job. Raleigh would most likely be your best bet. I would scratch New Bern off your list entirely, and maybe visit NC before making a permanent move. The job market isn't great, despite the rigged statistics they are constantly pumping out.

Sounds like the OP is a retiree or is planning to retire so maybe a job right now is not necessary. Good for them!

I am NOT retiring..in fact I am 47 single female with last child off to college looking to start anew...I mentioned fishing because it is my only salvation and i need to have it in my life. I am hard working and just looking to make a simple life for myself and my two boys when they come visit. I really am trying to get a grasp on the conditions of the job market from region to region and I would like to think I can rely on the community to tell it like it is, not so much into relying on the tourism sites that boast.

It's a podunk town of mainly three groups of people: transplanted retirees, younger uneducated locals struggling to make ends meet, and a small handful of folks who have money.

Your best job opportunities are likely in the Raleigh area.

Agree with the others - best place for the job is Raleigh, a fairly close 2nd is Greensboro and by a WIDE margin New Bern last.

I'm curious how you ended up with New Bern on the list with so many other (better) options to choose from on the coast. I don't know how much fresh water fishing you'll get there - it is on the salty ocean water you know, right? You want good fresh water fishing move to Michigan.

Beyond that I can't comment on the fishing. Raleigh has Falls Lake and Jordan Lake which are good size but not sure if they have the kind of fishing you want. I'm not a fisherman....
