If you are over wireless try hard wired.

Wireless 54mbps tops out right around 30.

Morrisville. I had intermittent dropouts today and speeds were 4 Mbps. (yesterday I saw 30 down).

Chat with their support said they are seeing higher noise in the line to the modem!

The earliest appointment they have is for Saturday!

Good Morning! I picked up the Motorola SB6183 modem from Wal-Mart yesterday for $99.99 but didn't realize that it's not wifi. Does anybody recommend a good wireless router?

I am using the Netgear R6100 router and have had zero issues with it. Think it's about $70 through Amazon or Newegg with free shipping. I paid about $85 for mine at Costco a while ago. Doubt they still have them.
May be much better routers out there but this one works for me.

Based on the reviews I saw, I went with this one
http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-Archer.../dp/B00BUSDVBQ

There was a quirk where I had to have it clone the MAC address of the router, but other than that, it was an easy set up and it seems to work well. Remember to change the password !

^ I was actually looking at the TP Link Archer. They have it for the same price at Wal-Mart.

Great news for those that have their own modem (sarcasm):

I just splurged and bought a Linksys Router (AC1900, I believe). It's a little more than I'd normally spend (about $125) but honestly it's provided impressive coverage. I am now able to get a reliable wifi signal throughout my house, even my office which is located on the furthest point away from the device.

As much as I don't love TWC, I'm loving my 300 mb up and 20+ mb down connectivity these days.

I did end up getting the TP Link Arch C7 Router from Wal-Mart.

A TWC tech just came by my house in Garner to check my speed. He did manage to get over 200 download speed hardwired to his computer. Over wifi, he only could get up to 90. The same with me. He lives in Clayton and that's all he can get at his house and he works for TWC LOL.

He recommended for me to downgrade my plan from Extreme to Turbo since I can only get close to 100 download speed. I just did so over the phone.

I hope Google does come to all of Garner. I don't how much more of TWC's crap I can take any more.
