I guess this explains the lack of school bus routes we've been discussing on the other thread.

Yay for progress!

Nothing to celebrate. Just more strip malls and subdivisions.

So does this mean Wake county will surpass Mecklenburg?

Did one personality forget what the other one said?

If you don't like it, MOVE. Instead of complain, like you do with everything else.

It's catching up, but Mecklenburg's still growing quickly as well. They passed 1 million at the end of last year. Could actually be another few years before Wake surpasses Meck, despite how close it is.

Will the baby who is born/ immigrant who arrives/ intra or inter-state mover get a plaque?

I guess it's cool that Wake hits the "million mark"...but bittersweet too. More traffic, less trees and less open space which by law of economics means higher cost of living. Ironically enough those seem the be the reasons cited by many of the people who move here for leaving their old stomping grounds.

We relocated here recently and intentionally moved into the sticks to hopefully keep what we love about this place for many years to come. It's a beautiful and wonderful place, but that has so much to do with the people here. The county continues to attract good people. We all benefit from good people moving here.

So long as tech and medicine are cutting edge and profitable, we will likely continue to enjoy a splendid economy that attracts brilliant minds seeking opportunity.

Where'd you wind up moving?

It's amazing how many places here were in the boonies 10-20 years ago and certainly are not now.

There many places right behind my back yard that are still in the boonies. They will look like nothing of the sort within the next 5 years.
