I was thinking of W. Chatham in Cary, between Cary Pkwy and Old Apex.

There is also a little bit of Cary Parkway near Harrison that is one lane in each direction with a median. It is unusual, but obviously does happen.

They're definitely rare, but they do exist. A portion of Weldon Ridge Blvd is like that.

Cary had also proposed it for the section of Walnut closest to downtown...one traffic lane and a bike lane in each direction with a median in the middle. But the Walnut Street residents got the plan overturned because the median would have made access to their driveways more difficult.

There are stretches of Woodcroft Pkwy (in Durham) that are two lanes with a median. I've seen that set up in a lot of subdivisions with a "grand" or "boulevard" style road at the main entrance.
