I'm looking to move to Durham in the upcoming months. I have found what seems to be a good apartment close to southpoint but I have heard some bad things about the town. Of course I don't want to move in with a negative attitude unless I need to. Please someone tell me how it really is in durham.

I tell ya I'd rather live in Durham than Southern Pines. Lots more going on here — good stuff.

Lots of good things to do. Fun stuff to eat. Diversity. Great Arts scene. Outdoorsy things to do.

Only bad thing? The better Basketball team is in the neighboring city

Durham is a great town, with all kinds of new stuff happening downtown. Yes, there are some slummy areas, generally, South/East of downtown, but it's evident when you find yourself driving through them. Western and Southwest Durham is no problem nor is most of North Durham.

Just don't drive around at night somewhere you haven't been during the day (good advice for any new city).
