New Year's Midnight Gathering
Has anyone been to the Raleigh First Night Celebration before? We just purchased our buttons and the list of possible things to do and see is huge. Looking for recommendations on shows and events that are a must see and a big hit with the kids (Ages 12, 9 and 5). The Web site is very good. firstnightraleigh.com - We have been to First Night Boston several times and it is a great family celebration. This one looks excellent too, and if it comes without the bitter cold weather, then we will enjoy it even more. Also, any parking recommendations? Thanks in advance!!

Gosh its been so long. I used to go when I was little. It was always fun to watch the acorn drop :P . I don't remember a whole lot except it wasn't as brutal as Concord, NH first night and I think we made some nifty hats and stuff. Lots of fun. I probably should think about getting down there again. I'm not a very late night person at all....this makes first night and meteor showers a challenge.

New Year's Midnight Gathering
Are there any special locations in Triangle that in New Year's midnight people gather, celebrate and party?
Justin.

LOL...yes, they don't sell it, but I saw plenty of flasks last year, and there are bars/resturants that are open in the area.

For the newbies, what specifically does this refer to? location, hours, events, is there a website where more info on this is located?

Anybody going to the "First Night" New Year's Eve Celebration in Downtown Raleigh Tonight?
I have never been but will be going for the first time tonight. My wife and I are both looking forward to seeing Tift Merrit perform at 10:30.

While not in the Triangle I think one year it would be fun to see the " Giant Pickle" Drop in Mt. Olive!
See you in 2008!
