So, it was a great day, and I took my 2 year old grandson in his stroller to the State Employees Credit Union across from Triangle Town Center.
After our business was done, we decided to go to McDonalds across the street.
There is a marked crosswalk with a crossing signal. Pressed the button, waited for the walk signal, and began to cross.
A woman in a Mercedes pulled out of Triangle and made a left turn towards Capital, nearly hitting us. Kept going without a glance back.
I yelled at her (no cussing) and told her how stupid she was. She kept going.
Well, God was watching. An RPD cruiser was a bit down the road and got in behind her with reds and blues flashing. No response till the officer hit the siren.
I walked up with my grandson, thanked the officer, and offered my details should the driver try to dispute the citation.
This is the trend that is making things bad on the roads in Raleigh.
Agreed. I'm not sure why so many people are in the type of hurry that would require nearly running over pedestrians, but I see this sort of thing with more regularity than I'd like.
I'm glad you're okay!

I have been impressed with the presence of RPD in most areas. Cary Police is obviously very good also. I hope the police forces in this area keep up with the growth and add more officers as necessary. Durham police seem understaffed, but they have a tough job and must be hard to recruit.
Its happening everywhere in big cities and small towns all over the country. Drivers are very aggressive and many do not heed to the pedestrians right of way. Luckily you didn't get hit and that RPD was right there and stopped her. I'm not sure but is a traffic infraction like that add points to your license in NC?
Glad you were okay saturnfan. So many bad accidents making the news lately. The accident with cyclist who was hit in Chapel Hill was really tragic, too.

I'm so glad I moved away from large cities. I love my little town of 19,000. People respect one another and everyone isn't in such a rush.
No tellin' how many times I was flipped off or honked at for not punching the gas at a fresh green light, or not turning right fast enough on red.
I'ts not just in the city. I've encountered my share of aggressive drivers in the country too. Especially on two lanes roads with passing as well as not sharing the road with bicyclers!
