I'm not super familiar with that area. There are plenty of nice neighborhoods in Durham and it's a great city, but I wouldn't want to see you jump from the frying pan into the fire, so to speak. There are some not great areas in Durham, too. You kinda have to check them out in person.
I'll be doing that tomorrow after work. Just in general, what are the worst parts of Durham? South Durham seemed dodgy on Google Maps Streetview in more areas than not.
Thanks! Yes I'm planning on moving there ASAP. It's looking like my dad and my brother may be assisting me with a few hundred dollars so I can either rent a hotel room or pay first month's rent for a boarding room. So I'll be out of Fayetteville and never look back this Monday.
Anyone know of any hotels that are $200/week or under?
Cool. I'm from Raleigh and own property in Fayetteville. I would not want to make that drive daily for work. I'm happy for you in making the choice to move. Any idea what area of Raleigh/Wake County you are looking at?

If you will be working in RTP, NorthWEST Raleigh, Morrisville, Cary and possibly Apex will be good locations for you. In Durham, I would go with SouthWest Durham
Location: Sodo Sopa at The Villas above Kenny' s House.

East Durham is sketchy by Raleigh standards but by Fayetteville's probably not as much. Some blocks are real bad and the next street over is hipsterville. I'd check it out and do a monthly before any long leases.
Thanks everyone. I'm posted up in a RTP hotel right now. Not moving to that place I previously mentioned but I did find one in SW Raleigh. A bit of a trek, but with the price it's perfect...I think I'd rather live in Raleigh anyway.

Thanks RedZin! I spent most of my evening driving around exploring. What a great area. I'm going to love it here. So many restaurants I want to try lol.
This is an inspiring story! I'm rooting for you to make it - good luck!
