I checked out the Wintergreen website, they also have a first timers ski lesson (6 and up). 90 minutes for only $15!! We just moved here from Colorado so we may head up to get a dose of snow too! Tubing was only $10 an hour per person. Coming from paying Aspen/Breckenridge prices that is such a bargain!

Just go with a open mind.
Everyone I know who has skied around Colorado states that skiing the Applachians is like skiing on bunny slopes.

If your coming from florida I would head caution going and it is snowing in the area. You will face driving conditions that you may have never dealt with Most ski resorts are on a curvy road with a steep grade and if it snowing that just adds to the challenge.

If you plan on riding the Blue Ridge Parkway use caution due to parts may be closed for the season or weather.

There is snowboard park only close to Asheville if you want to head in that direction

Have fun

Any suggestions on where to stay near Boone or Sugar Mountain for snow tubing?

Depending on what you are willing to pay but I have stayed at Best Western Lodge before and it was comfortable Banner Elk North Carolina

Ideal location is Sugar Mountain Ski Resort. You will have excellent mountain views, cool amenities and you are right by the ski slopes.

Default snow tubing

Thanks for the info. I don't really need a resort just a place to relax.
