Hi Guys

Does anyone know of a great mechanic? My car is a 2002 Infiniti and although it has low mileage (117K) it has been making really weird engine noises. They started about 1.5 years ago. I brought the car into a place in another state and they advised that my engine was loose and needed to be remounted. They said that would be expensive but not really necessary if I could live with the noise.

Well fast-forward a year and a half later and the noise has gotten LOUDER especially at engine start-up.

Thanks guys for any recommendations you can offer.

One answer: WASP Automotive

These guys are so honest and reliable that we hesitated buying a Hyundai because they ONLY service Japanese cars. I'm sure others will post the same recommendation shortly.

UPDATE ----- they do not service Nissans/ Infinitis I guess they don't do all Japanese vehicles.....what a bummer Couldn't find a bad review on them. I was referred to Modern Service in Cary......hmmm.....I guess I will have to call them.

Thanks anyway....maybe somebody else will benefit from this recommendation.

Also check Choice Auto Repair, next to the K-Mart at Western and Blue Ridge in Raleigh. Although they work on many different makes, they started out with and still specialize in Nissan/Infiniti.

I have used modern service and found they were also honest. I do not believe they are open on Saturdays.

I am sorry to steer you wrong. I really did think that they serviced all Japanese vehicles.

Given that it's WASP that recommended Modern Service in Cary (and the high online reviews I just looked up for them), I'd start there with a phone call. Be SURE to mention that WASP sent you. I'll bet they get a lot of referrals from WASP and they don't want to screw that relationship up.

Good Luck, and let us know how it goes. Pay it forward, and all that.

Thanks guys.........thanks Sal for the Choice Auto Repair recommendation. I now feel like I have a lot of good options lined up. Modern Service charges a $45 diagnostic fee, which is about 1/2 hour of labor. The place I used to go to out of state didn't charge to diagnose but having my own business I understand that time is money.....so I'm okay with that. Hoping for a good "report card". Nice to know I can also check out Choice Auto Repair if necessary. Thanks so much for everyone's generous responses. Will let you know how it goes
