Here on the Gulf Coast, most people pay to have their yards maintained by professional companies. There are so many companies, that it doesn't cost much at all. Less than HOA fees for opting for a TH instead.
How do y'all handle that up there? Is there enough demand for and enough supply of landscape maintenace companies to keep the prices reasonable or do people generally opt for a TH instead?
I want to do yard work. My wife and I still do two yards ourselves now in our mid 60's. If we stop...then we would soon get to where we couldn't
There are plenty of companies here who offer those services. I don't really know how competitive the prices are. People don't seem to complain. What's a TH anyway?

My wife and I both had landscaping jobs in the summer during our college years. We do it ourselves and enjoy the outdoor time. There are a ton of landscaping companies around here for those that like to hire it out. Then again there are those that could care less about their yards.....
I ignore it during the months that it's not pleasant outside, doing only the bare minimum to keep the appearance going without getting too heavy into labor. Wind takes care of most of the leaves, so I have very little to do during these months.
After many years of renting, I welcomed yard work - that is wearing off. At least leaf cleanup. My neighborhood is heavily wooded, but not enough that I can just leave it there.
I feel like it's about 50/50 in my neighborhood for DIY and hiring someone. Only a few homes have very neatly manicured lawns (and one of those homeowners is a landscaper). I don't know about pricing.
