Default Warning to out of state drivers....

Here is a warning to any out of state drivers traveling through Vance and Franklin counties using US 1 you are a target and a paycheck for these 2 counties... I was coming from NOVA to check out Raleigh driving down US 1 the speed limit is 55 , i locked my cruise control on 60, yeah i know its 5mph over , anyways i got pulled over and the officer said i was doing 78, and hit me with a reckless driving ticket, then i almost got locked up for arguing and cursing at him, .... i went to court and got a prayer of judgement and a $150.00 fine.

A month later i come back down to Raleigh to look at some homes near Triangle Town Center mall, i made it down ok, but on my way back i stopped at the new Sheetz in Franklin county to get some gas, i had my music on while i was pumping the gas, this officer walked over to me and said ....boy you aint in VA. turn the music off or i will lock you up, so i laughed in his face and told him to do it, boy was he pissed , lucky for me he did asked me again so i turned my music off, i damn sure didnt want to get locked up down there.....BTW...( MY MUSIC WAS NOT LOUD AT ALL ) when i left out of the gas station heading north on US 1 i noticed that he had pulled out right after me, its like 11pm at night, no other cars around and here he is pulling right up on my bumper, he's riding me for like 5 mins just waiting for me to do something so he can legally pull me over, then he falls back, i no longer see him....iam thinking ok let me get back to VA. ..all of a sudden i see these headlights from a distance in rear view mirror coming up very fast, the car gets right up on my bumper its the cop , he lights me up, so i turn on my hazzards and slow down but there aint no freaking way iam pulling over right here, right now with no street lights no houses nothing but darkness , so i called 911 and ask for a supervisor to come to the scene, this officer had no justifiable reason for pulling me over and he strategically waited to pull me over in an isolated area i think he was going to give some down south, backwoods justice, i still wonder what might of happen to me if i had of pulled over in that isolated area. Once again for the record i did not have my music up loud.

......SO PLEASE BECAREFUL OUT OF TOWNERS WHEN TRAVELING THROUGH VANCE AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES ALONG US 1.

Quite frankly I find both cases incredulous. 60mph and 78mph is a *huge* discrepancy for even the most primitive clocking tools.

How did you know he was going to give you some backwoods luvin when he pulled you over?

Gee, I wonder what the rest of the story is (in each case); or what the other side is in each case.

For the record: I drove through those counties and numerous other counties with VA and OH plates and never had a problem. So maybe it's you?

not sure if this makes any differance but i was traveling south bound and the officer was traveling north bound when he clocked me , and yes tee-tee your right 60 vs 78 is a huge discrepancy thats why i got into an arguement with the officer and cussed him out, my post is to inform and warn out of state drivers so they dont have to go through all the BS i had to , this forum is here to give info and advise.... and thats what i am doing. I love it when the people that live in NC feel its their duty to defend and shoot down anything negative about NC and iam not surprised tee-tee that you find my post ** incredulous ** iam sure i will get more from the rest of the people who live in NC. But to the people who are planning on traveling to Raleigh via interstate 85 to US 1 south this post is for you , to warn you . Just becareful and do the speed limit.

Guess some of your previous experiences are an indication:

i have had a few tickets in fairfax, including 2 reckless driving, one was for doing 105 mph on my motorcycle when the officer stopped me ...lol....he just put the handcuffs on me and off to the station i went, ...30 days in jail 6 months revoked license 1000.00 ticket....750.00 for a lawyer, plus 6 moths off of work...i own a dumptruck so i couldn't drive i lost over 50.000 of income........anyway the only way you can really beat the ticket is if you have a good driving record, and if you can get a repair shop that calibrates speedometers to put in writing that when they tested your speedometer it was off and that they did repair it....good luck ...fairfax can be kind of tuff on ya.

Why would you curse at the cop? Do you like to get in trouble?

you already posted this in a locked thread. i hate cops who think we're all second class citizens next to them, but if you're unrealistic enough to speed, blast music, and curse at cops and think you're going to walk away with a pat on the back, you're mistaken. sorry.

Default Border war?

We drove in and out of the Triangle on Route 1 from I-85 on four separate occasions between 2006 and 2007 with New York license plates. I definitely was not driving the speed limit on those segments that were after hours which would be for most of them. I never had a problem.

Also, for the first five months after relocating to Raleigh I drove with New York plates and explored Franklin county a few times, again without incident.

Considering how much out-of-state traffic comes into the area via that corridor I'd be shocked if the original poster's experience was common.
