I wasn't intending to be sarcastic - the video did in fact get posted in this forum for discussion; by you. That's how it works. Someone has to be the first.

It is important to their families that they be identified as Muslim. So how about we respect that?

And with all the denigration of Muslims that goes on in our society (for instance, Franklin Graham and the Duke call to prayer freakout) they provide a dramatic contrast to stereotype.

Identifying someone as being Muslim is a bit different than labeling them such that they are only described in a one- dimensional manner. If we see and refer to the only as Muslim, we'll miss the many other parts of who they were.

Bad decision. Capital punishment is suitable for premeditation. Very doubtful that they can prove premeditation in this case.

It's sounds to me like he's grandstanding for the press.

Grandstanding indeed, considering NC has had a de facto moratorium on the death penalty since 2006.

Or he's trying for leverage against the guy to get him to plead to 2nd or 1st degree with life agreed upon.

You're confusing things. Premeditation is an element of first degree murder. The NC statutes list many aggravating circumstances which support a sentence of death.
