A Cary pickup plow came around our cul-de-sac a couple times today. Doesn't seem to have done much good though...they were too late in the day and we'd lost the sun and stuff had frozen back up. If they'd hit it earlier in the afternoon they would have been able to scrape a good bit of it up.
Same here in West Cary. They plowed our subdivision and it didn't look any different. They came back a few hours later and got it really cleaned up. No mail though.
We got mail delivery in central Durham, near Duke/downtown. Ran a couple of hours late but great to have the service. Our in-town neighborhood is delivery-to-the-door -- no curb mailboxes -- so our mail deliverer was walking the whole way on largely unshoveled sidewalks!
Do you think the city is picking up trash and recycling today? Usually they send out a notice when they aren't going to, but I never got anything via email and the website doesn't seem to say anything. It looks like solid ice out there.
Apex came by and plowed all the subdivisions around here and the main roads. I was actually impressed. The 2-3 storms we've had over the last two years here, the Town of Apex has been on top of things.

Town of Cary delayed till today (we got an email yesterday) and I'm just hoping the garbage can isn't frozen to the ground!
Not really sure why I'm even asking...I think my gate is frozen closed and blocked by a solid sheet of ice even if I could open it anyway. I'm certainly not lifting it up over the fence!
I-40 seemed to be completely clear and dry this morning between Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Primary roads were in similar shape. Secondary roads are quite spotty, with still quite a bit of ice and slush.

That's great. We got plowed last year. Not once this time, no sand or salt eiither. Now it is a chunky frozen mess in the road. Not sure if we will get mail today, we'll see.
Well, after all my griping, I have to say that someone came through my subdivision and plowed the main road out pretty well. Got it down to asphalt and it looks like it all melted in the sun yesterday afternoon. Not sure if it was the town or the HOA. I did run one errand in Garner yesterday and the main streets looked OK, but there were still a lot of messed-up (i.e. unplowed) turning lanes, etc, that could be a real hazard if they froze solid overnight. Overall, though, pretty decent response to the weather in the end.

I got an email from the city of Raleigh telling us solid waste pickup is delayed by one day, with Friday pickup being done on Saturday.
