I'm not planning to, but my crawlspace is decently insulated and I've not had any freezing issues before with cold weather.
If you plan to drip, you'd need to do multiple faucets, since your pipes branch off and you'd want to have movement in any exposed section of the piping.
Are your crawlspace walls insulated or the pipes or both? I don't know if my pipes are insulated but they are in the crawl space which should protect them a little. I have never had a problem before, so maybe I am over thinking this. I just can't remember the last time we had temperatures in the high teens and twenties. It is only two days so maybe there is nothing to worry about.
I let mine drip when it was in the teens last year. The icicle eventually reached the faucet and blocked it, which caused it all to freeze up. So, if you do, make sure its more than a drip. If you have modern faucets they shouldn't freeze anyway. I was a little concerned with mine just due to the cold. Luckily, nothing was damaged that I can tell. I'm leaving it be this year.
Is anyone planning to let their faucet drip? I just got a reminder from my HOA. I live in a single family home with a crawl space. I've never done that before. Should I leave all sinks dripping, and is a drip enough or should it be a thin stream of water? I am nervous about leaving the house with water going, but temps for the next 2 days are going to be pretty low.
I let my hot water drip (or run the dishwasher on a timer in the middle of the night) on cold nights but that's because I have an instant hot water heater and the pipes are on the outside of the house. For this week, until it goes back to above freezing during the day, I'm letting it drip constantly.
