We *love* our Drees home. (It's a Hampton - in Bedford.) We didn't build it but bought it new as a spec house. We have been in for a year now. They come back and fix everything that you want fixed at periodic intervals. We are going through the last one now - the one-year one. I can't think of a single thing to complain about, and we weren't even part of the construction process.

We live in Bowling Green in the 200+ St Lawrence home section and we are very pleased. At the time we purchased the salesperson was super about answering questions and assisting. We asked for special amenities and they were made per our request. The pool area is beautiful and I have great neighbors.

As for building construction, check out the construction supervisor. If he takes pride in the work being done and holds the men accountable, then that's a plus. Ours was good to work with - made very sure everything suited us before we closed.

And yes, always get an independent inspector to check everything before you close. Our house checked out great. The inspector said the water heater was a really good one. The interior paint is not the best quality, but I think most new home builders use the same kind of paint. We had our heavy use rooms painted by a professional painter.

If we move again to another area, I wouldn't hesitate to go with St. Lawrence, but I'd check out the building supervisor, sales staff, and have an inspector look over everything to be on the safe side.

Anyway, we love it here. Stores are convenient, but not too close. A new Lowes Foods is going up with a nice shopping center. We're close to downtown and yet, we feel like we're out in the country on the edge of everything.

Just an FYI, I have purchased the domain name "www.BowlingGreenNC.com" and should have it temporarily redirected to my webserver soon. This will be a web forum for all the home owners and visitors to use and communicate.

UPDATE - Unfinished homes by St. Lawrence Homes are available in the Estates section of Bowling Green. Perspective home buyers can purchase these home at a substantial savings due to St. Lawrence Homes bankruptcy restructuring.

However these deals will not last long. Sales have increased in Bowling Green with new builders and increased inventory. Now is the time to act. Due to lender restrictions, the homes can only be finished once a contract is signed.
