Default Bent Creek Townhouses

Can anyone tell me about the Bent Creek Townhouses? The area looks nice and there are a few properities in that subdivision for sale. It also looks like Bent Creek Drive has a section of the Raleigh Greenway off it. Anyones thoughts would be appreciated, as I'm thinking about making an offer on one of the townhomes for sale! Thanks.

Have you looked anywhere else besides Bent Creek? I've noticed that over the past few years they haven't appreciated much.

Have you looked at Newton Parish off of Newton Road, or the Cottages at Stonehenge on Creedmoor Road? I rented at the Cottages when I moved here 10 yrs. ago and loved it. They were rentals then and are now selling as townhomes. Fabulous interiors and location can't be beat.

My realtor mentioned this to me as well when I was looking in that area previously.

I have a friend who currently has a place at Bent Creek on the market and is only asking $10k more than what was paid for it 6.5 years ago. The list price seems to be in line with the comps in the area, so it does seem like appreciation isn't all that wonderful. It seemed like a decent neighborhood, though.

I grew up just down the road from Bent Creek.

To be perfectly honest with you, the houses have really not improved that much. Be careful at night, there have been reports of crime and assualts. Its not so much of the Bent Creek townhouse neighborhood, but some of the neighboring neighborhoods as well. I have some friends who are down the road as well and their house got broken into a couple of times.

I'm just not a big fan of that area in particular and I lived there for 25 years. Personally, I would look elsewhere where you would more for your money.
Just my opinion though!

I have to agree with the previous post. I have a friend who has lived in Bent Creek for the past 3 1/2 years. In the past year several of the townhomes have been broken into. She purchased an alarm system so that she would feel safer at night. Bent Creek as a whole is a nice-looking community and the people there are very nice, but there are some places around it that seem to contain some "shady elements." It's a shame because I think the townhomes would appreciate if those shadier areas around it were to improve.

Thank you for the responses so far. From those who have responded, what suggestions for communites would you give as an alternative. I'm looking mostly between glenwood and capital, for a townhouse - 2 story, below 125k. I could afford more than that, but don't want to commit to those large monthly payments. I like the Fresh Market/Harris Teeter on the corner of Spring Forest & Falls of Neuse and was attracted to the size of the homes for sale in Bent Creek, their location, and the price.

Have you tried Falls River?
I bought a really nice wine rack off of craigslist from someone who lived in one of the townhomes. I must admit, they were quite impressive! Everyone waved to me as I drove through (yes, I was lost, lol). I dont know what the price range is but I would check into it. The community was beautiful!

Also, check around craigslist. Lots of townhomes for sale on there too. If you see one you like, post on the board (start a new thread) and the good folks on here will give you an honest opinion.

Good luck!!

If I were you, I would get with a realtor and let them find some nice alternatives for you. There are a TON of townhome communities between Glenwood and Capital. Too many to name. A realtor could narrow down the choices for you. Also check the real estate websites. They have great search engines and you can really narrow down the choices based on your criteria. I really like Fonville Morisey's website and Howard Perry & Walston's website. Then you can create a list of ones you'd like more information on and take that to your realtor.

I looked at those townhomes when I was buying in 2000. They were pretty nice, but I have noticed that the prices are pretty much the same. I would have thought they would get a boost from I-540 and the North Hills expansion nearby, but it seems the neighborhood has not fared well from what others are saying.
