My husband and I will be moving to Raleigh next month. We are planning a baby and it's very important that we find the best hospital and doctor as quickly as we can.
I would like to know what everybody's opinion is on which hospital(s) is/are the best for childbirth. In addition, if anybody knows of any good OBs to recommend, please pass them along.
There have been several post recently on both of these topics, if you do an advanced search and enter the keywords ob/gyn recommendations for this Raleigh Durham chapel hill forum you will get some recent results. Do the same for best hospital for giving birth.
My 2 cents on the topic is I would give birth where the staff is most capable of handing complications which most likely will not, but could arise. This also means I would only give birth at a hospital that has a NICU.
I had a great experience at Rex. I had a very smooth pregnancy, but nevertheless was very nervous about the delivery process (fearful). They took extra care to put me at ease and it ended up being an excellent experience.
Several of my friends and relatives gave birth at Rex Hospital and had only good things to say about their experiences. WakeMed in Cary is great too, but if you're living in Raleigh, might as well go to Rex. Good luck!
I gave birth at both Rex and WakeMed Cary. WakeMed felt newer and brighter, but the lack of curtain/blind on the big window really bothered me, especially at night.
Rex is good. WakeMed North will start delivering babies real soon and it should be the newest nicest place to have a baby in Raleigh!
